This is what a personal trainer costs per hour in Germany and this is what an hour of personal training costs in other countries
Every year I think again: What is the best way to get fit? What's the best way to motivate myself and how can I be sure that I'm doing the exercises correctly and effectively?
The perfect solution - if there is such a thing as perfect - to get your body healthy and fit is a personal trainer. But how much does personal training cost per hour in Germany? After some research, I was able to find the following costs for personal trainers.
In Germany, an hour of personal training costs an average of 90 - 100 euros. Of course, there are also big differences in price here, depending on the service offered and the qualifications of the trainer. A price range from 30 euros to 150 euros is common and can often be found, although there is no upper limit.

Where can I find a suitable personal trainer?
Once you have decided to do something for your fitness and invest in your health (including losing weight/weight reduction, building muscle, improving your general fitness), the question arises as to where and how you can actually find a suitable personal trainer. You have several options:
- Personal training in the fitness studio
- External support from a personal trainer at your gym
- Find a suitable personal trainer online
Personal training at the gym
A convenient way to find a personal trainer is through your gym. Every day I see motivated clients there - some of whom need to be motivated first - working diligently towards their goals with a trainer employed by the gym. For some, this may be a suitable option. Here are some pros and cons:
- Pro: Qualified trainer, you already know him/her, good equipment available
- Cons: Higher price, mostly indoor
External support from a personal trainer at your gym
Alternatively, you can ask a trainer at the gym if they would be willing to coach you outside of the gym. In my experience, many trainers are open to this. Some trainers also officially have a small personal training agency to earn some extra money.
- Pro: Qualified trainer, you already know him/her, flexible times, outdoor training possible
- Cons: Some effort, not all training equipment available as in the gym
Find a suitable personal trainer online
The third option is to search the Internet. There are numerous websites that offer a suitable trainer search quickly and easily. You can filter by your training goals, your location or prices, for example.
- Pro: Partly very cheap, easy & fast search, flexible times, outdoor training possible, training via webcam possible
- Cons: Qualifications not always guaranteed, no personal contact in advance, not all training equipment available as in the gym
How you can significantly reduce the cost of personal training
For many people, the cost of a personal trainer is one of the main reasons why they ultimately decide to train on their own in the gym rather than turning to a personal trainer to get fit and healthy. There are various ways in which you can significantly reduce the cost of an hour of personal training.
Quantity discount
Many trainers offer you a volume discount. For example, if you book 10 hours of personal training, you will get a lower price per hour than if you book just one hour. Other fitness trainers offer you one hour for free if you book 10 hours or offer you a free check-up. Simply enquire with various personal trainers and decide on a suitable offer.
Train in pairs
Grab a friend and train as a couple with a personal trainer. Although most fitness trainers charge a slightly higher price for two people, as you can ultimately divide the costs by two, you can get away with this method for much less. As well as being much more fun and motivating than individual training, you are also guaranteed intensive and personal support.
Health insurance inquiries
Simply ask your health insurance provider whether they will support you in your plan to get fitter and healthier. They often offer you a subsidy or partial cost coverage - but often very limited (e.g. max. 100 € or max. hours per year).
Personal training abroad - fitness vacation
Another ideal way to train inexpensively with a qualified fitness trainer is to combine a vacation abroad with a fitness program and a personal trainer. A fitness trip is perfect for a "kick start" to an improved YOU. Not only can you complete a large number of personal training sessions in a very short space of time, but you can also focus completely on yourself, your training and your goals without the distractions of everyday life. And the best thing is that the costs for a personal trainer abroad are often significantly lower.
In addition to personal training in a hotel gym or an external gym, an intensive 1:1 workout on the beach is of course recommended. Enjoy the sun, train on the beach and get fit on vacation.
As a reward for your hard work, you can of course also jump into the refreshing sea after your workout and completely relax on the beach J
The costs are often significantly lower abroad - This is what a personal trainer costs on vacation
Whether it's a fitness vacation in Thailand or a sports vacation with a personal trainer in Spain: The possibilities are extremely diverse. As the cost of an hour of personal training varies greatly depending on the country (and often also the region), it's easy to lose track.

Thank you for the detailed article about personal trainers. In my opinion, the prices are not a problem as long as the fitness coach offers a top service. In any case, you could also consider training in pairs to split the costs. That's also more fun, by the way.
[...] Trainers I don't have any experience with personal trainers, but during my research I came across prices between €30 and €150. I think 60 to 80 euros is a good average. [...]
